Iron Range Roll

Marquette Connect will be sponsoring the annual Iron Range Roll on Saturday, June 3, 2023.   

No streets will be closed for the event.  Bicyclists that are participating in the event are to follow the rules of the road, however motorists are asked to be aware of the bicyclists crossing the following locations between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

  • Iron Ore Heritage Trail crossing at Wilson Street
  • Washington Street & McClellan Avenue intersection
  • Multi-use path crossing at Fifth Street
  • Multi-use path crossing at Fourth Street

Marquette City Police will provide traffic control at the intersection of Washington and McClellan.

First Thursday Gallery Stroll

On Thursday, June 1, beginning at 3:00 p.m. and continuing through 9:00 p.m. Ohio Street between Fourth Street and Third Street will be closed to through traffic for an event sponsored by the Marquette Arts and Culture Center.

No detour will be provided.

Residents will be able to access their homes from Fourth Street during the event.  Pedestrian traffic along Ohio Street will be maintained.

Marquette City Manager Community Office After-Hours

Marquette City Manager Karen Kovacs will be holding her first community office after-hours on Wednesday, June 7 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Provisions located at 401 South Lakeshore Boulevard.  The meeting is intended to provide an informal opportunity to discuss issues within the community, and to give citizens the opportunity for direct dialogue with City staff about interests and concerns.

Lane Closures Scheduled for Petunia Planting

Beginning at 6:00 a.m. on Friday, June 2, S. Front Street/U.S. 41 (from Furnace St. to the round-a-bout) will be tapered down to one lane heading north for the Marquette Beautification Committee’s annual planting of petunias. The lane is expected to be open to through traffic at 3:00 p.m. 

On Saturday, June 3, starting at 6:00 a.m. the southbound lane of S. Front Street/U.S. 41 (from Jackson to Furnace) will be tapered down to one lane heading south for the planting of petunias.  All lanes are expected to be open to through traffic at 2:00 p.m. the same day.

Motorists are encouraged to slow down and use caution while traveling in this area.

Reminder: May 30 City Commission Meeting on a Tuesday

Due to the Memorial Day Holiday, the upcoming regular meeting of the Marquette City Commission will be held on Tuesday, May 30. The meeting will take place in City Commission Chambers at City Hall, and is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

As a reminder, most City offices will be closed on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day.

City of Marquette, Summer Hours

City offices located at Marquette City Hall, 300 W. Baraga Avenue; the Lakeview Arena, 401 E. Fair Avenue; the Arts and Culture Center, 217 N. Front St. (in the Peter White Public Library); and the Municipal Service Center, 1100 Wright Street, will be moving to summer hours beginning Monday, June 5, 2023. Summer hours will continue through Labor Day.

  • Monday-Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: Closed
